Durable Medical Equipment (DME)
To see if precertification is needed for a patient, check eligibility and benefits through ProviderAccess or your practice management software. If precertification is required, you can begin the process through Eligibility and Benefits or by going directly to Pre-Service Review and entering the specific procedure code for the equipment you plan to provide for the patient.
Submit Preservice Reviews Electronically
Electronic preservice review is now available for all services requiring precertification. Submitting electronically instead of fax offers faster, often immediate approvals.
Getting Started
From Eligibility & Benefits, look for the green GO button to proceed with the electronic submission. The GO button appears whenever a precertification is required for the selected service type.
Also available: For other durable medical equipment (DME), complete the DME Certification form to request precertification.
