Circle of Care Citizenship Award

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama’s Circle of Care Citizenship Award celebrates providers who deliver high-quality healthcare and make significant contributions to their communities in Alabama. Citizenship Award recipients receive $500 and a plaque.

The Citizenship Award builds upon the Circle of Care Innovation Award that has recognized medical offices throughout Alabama over past years for their outside-of-the-box best practices and patient services that can help other providers in Alabama.

Citizenship Award Criteria
Through their daily actions and leadership, Citizenship Award recipients should exhibit Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama’s Corporate Values: 

  • Respect Our Customers 
  • Achieve Excellence 
  • Realize Full Potential 
  • Pursue Knowledge 
  • Act With Integrity 
  • Give Back to the Community 

Here are some examples of qualities that nominees for this award may exhibit:

  • Publishes articles related to healthcare issues, health equity, condition management. 
  • Provides complimentary or heavily discounted medical care to patients. 
  • Organizes or participates in health fairs and/or free clinics. 
  • Earns voluntary advanced certifications or recognition. 
  • Practices in an underserved community or rural area. 
  • Provides stellar care to a minority population. 
  • Implements innovative ideas to improve care delivery and close care gaps. 

How to Nominate a Provider 
Citizenship Award nominations are accepted and considered throughout the year. We encourage the provider community to consider their peers as nominees for this award.

To nominate a provider: Submit nominees along with a brief description of how the provider exhibits our Corporate Values to CircleofCare@bcbsal.org

The Circle of Care Citizenship committee meets quarterly to review nominations and determine winners. Winners will be recognized annually during the Circle of Care Summit.
