Each year the formulation of the seasonal influenza vaccine is determined based on information from the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This vaccine contains different strains of influenza that are expected to be active for the current year. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama follows the Advisory Committee in Immunization Practices for recommendations regarding age, frequency and dosage. Fees are subject to change each year and will be updated on the Preferred Medical Doctor (PMD) and Select fee schedules as soon as pricing has been established.
