Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama has claims processing rules for providers in contiguous counties to validate whether or not a member lives in Alabama.

• Claims for members residing outside of Alabama will deny with instructions to file the claim to the Blue Cross Plan in the state in which the services were rendered.
• The contiguous county claims filing process has not changed for members who live within Alabama.
• If a member's address on our system is incorrect, the member should update his or her address information immediately.
